After immigrating to Canada from South Korea a near decade ago, Julia and her family decided to open up a business in Chinatown: Wow Chicken. Learning to adapt to a new country and navigating around a different language were challenges she faced, but running a business brought its own unique difficulties. Working from 9 ’til midnight was nothing out of the ordinary, now adding COVID-19, one could only imagine all the challenges on this family run business.
Julia says she is able to find silver linings, “sometimes [it] feels very hard due to COVID, but I can spend lots of time with my kids in my business, so I’m happy”.
Julia hopes that people are taking care of themselves (especially mentally), and hopes people are staying connected even in the midst of social distancing/isolation.
