[Local Biz Spotlight] Simmer Hong Steam Pot Restaurant

Have you ever wanted to dine like a king? Then, Simmer Hong is the place to be!

Originally a dish eaten by Chinese royalty, Simmer Hong’s signature steam pot brings a whole new and unique way of dining to Calgary! The owner, Yong, moved from Winnipeg to Calgary six years ago and worked as an owner of a pizza restaurant before deciding that he wanted to share a special kind of Chinese cuisine to share with the community.

Crafting the perfect steam pot is quick and easy! Choose from their variety of flavours, such as classic soy sauce, mild spicy and hot spicy; toppings such as pork ribs, chicken wings, and if you’re feeling adventurous, bull frog legs! Then, your order will be ready in no time! Once you have picked out your flavour and toppings, the ingredients are brought to the table and you can watch as the magic unfolds before your eyes! On the built in stove top on your table, the chef will carefully place and prepare the best and freshest ingredients into the waiting pot. The ingredients then proceed to steam for ten minutes in its own flavours, creating a savoury juice that is soaked up by the vegetables at the bottom of the pot, then all that’s left to do is to top off the dish with their homemade secret sauce, then you can dig in!

If you choose to do take-out, then recreating the delicious flavours of Simmer Hong’s steam pot in your kitchen is that simple! They offer a special type of aluminum take-out container that you can use to reheat your leftovers directly on your stove at home.

So, if you’re looking to try a new and totally unique way of dining on Chinese food, then definitely try out a steam pot dinner at Simmer Hong!
