[Local Biz Spotlight] La Viena Italian Restaurant

For over 20 years, La Viena has served Calgarians with timeless pasta dishes and other exquisite Italian culinary offerings. Top that off with an authentic “Little Italy” inspired interior that seems to ignore the hands of time, La Viena is truly a gem to try out next time you are looking for a pasta fix in the city.

In true Italian fashion, when you visit La Viena you will likely be greeted by the owner Annie. Always smiling with a bubbly attitude, Annie is the host, master chef and server at her restaurant, and likely the reason why La Viena’s had so many loyal customers over the decades (just check Google Reviews to count how many times Annie is mentioned!). Her customer-centric approach has defined how they approached food, service, and most recently, safety. We were pleased to hear and see all of the precautions taken by her and her staff to ensure her customers are safe.

Impeccable service aside, La Viena’s culinary offerings are not to be overlooked. From amazing antipasti (appetizer) selections, flavourful pastas, to delicate desserts, Annie has perfected her recipes from passion and love for Italian food & culture which developed from her extensive experience working in some of Calgary’s longest running Italian restaurants.

During our visit, we tried the classic Spaghetti & Meatballs where we found flaky yet juicy meatballs, bouncy pasta and the perfect tangy sauce to tie everything together. The tiramisu dessert was delicate and tastefully sweet without leaving us with a heavy feeling. An interesting FYI, to ensure consistent high quality throughout her menu, La Viena bakes their own bread and desserts in-house!

We recommend visiting La Viena & when you do, prepare yourself (and your belly) for a gastronomic experience in a relaxed setting with excellent service! Their Happy Hour is from 2PM to 6PM and their tasty pastas are on special for $10.95 from 8PM until closed.
